Chieftain FAQ

Question: What do I need to do to ensure continued safe delivery?

Answer: All homeowners should book an annual maintenance inspection with a certified oil burner mechanic.  Your heating system check will include the home-heating oil tank, fuel lines and ensure the tank whistle is working.

Our team requires clear access with a path cleared of snow to your tanks for delivery.   Additionally, please also clear the tank area.  We greatly appreciate your efforts to help keep our team safe from slipping and falling.

Question: If I prepay my fuel for delivery next month, will I receive the price at time of purchase or delivery?

Answer: The fuel rates are billed in line with market fluctuations. The fee billed is based on the day of delivery, prepaying is an estimation only.

Question: Can I request a partial delivery?

Answer: Yes you can, but there is a minimum delivery of 350 Liters. We encourage clients to have their tanks filled completely to avoid the risk of additional charges associated with an emergency delivery.

Question: What are the payment terms?

Answer: Payment terms are net 15 days from day of delivery.

Question: How are my payments processed?

Answer: On the day of delivery, a meter ticket (proof of delivery) will be left for you indicating the volume of fuel delivered. An invoice will be emailed within 2 business days in most cases. The fuel rate is based on the price of fuel on the delivery date. Payment is due within 15 days of the delivery date. Credit cards on file will be charged as expeditiously as possible.

Question: How do I know that my fuel has been delivered?

Answer: A meter ticket is provided as proof of delivery. It can also serve to give you an idea of the amount of fuel you used and thus a way to anticipate the upcoming payment required. The meter ticket is not an invoice.
